\"\"In September 2015, the supervising art director for the Marvel film, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” contacted me asking if I would like to do some visual consulting work, possibly as a conceptual artist on the film. <\/span><\/p>\n

My first reaction was that it simply couldn’t be true. So I cautiously replied to the email, explaining the limitations of what I could and couldn’t do with Mandelbulb 3D. A dozen or so emails and a few phone calls later, I signed a non disclosure agreement, (plus a few other agreements) and promptly began work.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the agreements forbade me of even mentioning any involvement whatsoever with the project unless given express permission. I never even asked them for permission until some of the trailers for the movie started coming out, and then some people in the fractal community started spotting some fractal elements in a few of the scenes.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m still bound by the agreements I signed to not provide any specific details on the work I did nor reveal any artwork I contributed. I really can’t talk much about it at all in detail yet. But I did ask for and received permission to tell my family and friends that I did indeed work on the Marvel film, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"It was such an honor to work with all the very kind people on the film, and on such a huge project. At first I felt like I was in so far over my head! I was nervous as hell. But the people I dealt with were very nice and made it easy for me to feel like I fit in, and was an integral, contributing part of the project. It really couldn’t have been a better experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also wanted to thank everyone on Deviant Art, Fractal Forums, (specifically Jesse and all others involved with creating Mandelbulb 3D, Luca for formulas and Christian Kleinhuis for hosting the forums) and Facebook that have been kind and generous enough to encourage me by faving, commenting and liking my artwork. All of that gracious support is what drove me to try not to be better than anyone else, but to be as good as I could possibly be at creating my own visions, and making my own style of art. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” Release Date: 5 May 2017<\/span><\/p>\n

Artwork for Velvet Acid Christ<\/h3>\n

Recently supplied my fractal imagery for two music CD\u2019s and Albums for the band \u201cVelvet Acid Christ\u201d (VAC). The lead man in VAC, Bryan Erickson, was great to work with. Artwork on magazine cover<\/h3>\n

\u201cGordian Twist\u201d piece, one of the twenty five winners of the 2011 Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest was chosen by the editor as the cover art for the magazine REDES. \u201cREDES para la Ciencia\u201d (NETS for Science) is the print magazine format of a well known Spanish Science TV program. Javier Barrallo, a Professor of Mathematics at The University of the Basque Country, Spain and also one of the panelists for the BMFAC wrote a nice article about the contest and fractal art. Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest<\/h3>\n

One of the three pieces I entered in the 2011 Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest was chosen along with 24 other artist\u2019s pieces to be printed, framed and exhibited. Below is an excerpt from the selection criteria\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are choosing art that represents our art form to a world that largely does not know it\u2014or if they do know it, they know only garish, 70s-style imagery. We want to show diversity of fractal styles. We want to show diversity of colors. We want to show technically excellent work, but not work that is only technically excellent\u2014it should be exemplary in its artistic expression as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

My piece that was chosen was Gordian Twist and can be seen in my portfolio.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Digital art exhibition<\/h3>\n

Participated in an invitation only digital art exhibition\u00a0 in May\u00a0 2011,\u00a0 sponsored by Paper New England<\/a>. The event was titled The Digital Palette<\/a> and was held at the Artspace Gallery in Hartford, CT. A quote from the article follows\u2026<\/p>\n
